Salutations!

My name is Ashley and I have been writing for....oh....about three weeks. I am super new to this whole "blogging" thing! I have explored a few different writing styles. However, I am sticking to poetry right now, and this is my most recent poem (it's my fourth poem ever written). Feel free to comment!

Hurt…
It hurts to know I am not the one.
The one who brings a smile to your face,
and who you swear you wanna build a future with.
You will never reach out to hold my hand,
or tell me I am your reason for breathing.
She will be the one to know the essence of your being.
You will entangle your fingers with hers
and whisper sweet nothings into her ear.
I will remain the same,
Heart aflame, with no one willing to grasp it-
Brave the heat, grasp it between their fingers, and take it for their own.
Resulting in my ending being the same as it begun,
It hurts to know I am not the one

Hello!

I admit it, I'm not sure how this should work. If I'm posting this in the wrong place, do let me know!

My name is Jamie Leith and I am pleased to be  here. I feel like a community of fellow writers might be just what I needed to get back into my works. For a short time, I had stopped my personal works in favor of taking writing commissions from art sites. The pay was decent, though I still felt very empty. I have over the years also taken to writing fanfiction. I feel that writing in any form can be inspiration enough to reach your goals. Over the years I have been working out the details of a novel I've been wanting to write. The basis may be hard to swallow, but essentially, it's a horror novel, as I've been told that I am very strong in that category. I have been working out details to make it a completely new genre, something that other writers look at and say 'This is something I've never encountered before'. My writing has previously been limited to poetry and short stories. My poetry has been published in books, and in school newspapers.

Thank you for allowing me to be here, I apologize for my awkwardness. No excuse, but I have Asperger's, so, I always make sure to say I'm sorry in advance.

-Jamie
